Salary:  £26,861 to £40,121 per annum
Initial appointment will be in the above range per annum (depending on experience)

At the Institute of Development Studies we believe that evidence and learning can drive positive social and economic change. 

The Knowledge Impact and Policy team contributes directly to IDS’ vision of Engaged Excellence, working across the institute and with partners to support this change by promoting evidence-informed policy making and practice. We are currently seeking to recruit for a Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Specialist to focus on the MEL of research and knowledge mobilisation. 

The core duties will be to manage and implement a portfolio of MEL work that contributes to the unit’s goals. This will include, designing and implementing MEL plans, administration of M&E data, interviewing development actors and entering and analysing M&E primary and secondary data. Given the range of responsibilities and tasks of this position, the post-holder will be expected to manage competing responsibilities with support on setting priorities from the Programme Development Manager so strong organisational and project management skills are essential. 

Applicants will be qualified to degree level in Social Sciences, International Development or a related field and have a thorough understanding of issues and methods relating to MEL and knowledge of issues related to measuring the impact of research and knowledge work. The successful candidate will have excellent numeracy skills with an understanding of standard data handling processes, and excellent written and verbal communications skills. Resource Management experience is essential along with significant facilitation experience.
